He has produced numerous short films with a vision to instil values in the younger generation. His notable works include Veeramangai Velunachiar, a film about a brave historical woman, Ellaiyilla Paarvai (Vision Beyond Boundaries), and Kadavulai Kandaen (Saw the Almighty), a true story of a student from Sethu Bhaskara School. He has also made films such as Bimbam, which highlights the importance of caring for elderly parents, and Kalviyin Kaimaru, which promotes compassion. Dr. Kumanan is an accomplished poet, having authored several notable works, including “Malaysia Manimakudam,” “Idayathul Israel,” “Masakthi Ikeda,” “Mexicovil Tamil Kavidaigal,” and “Petra: A Travelogue of the Trip to Jordan”, a compilation of photographs. Dr. Sethu Kumanan, deeply moved by the struggles of the visually-challenged and the difficulties faced by village boys in securing employment, founded the Sethu Bhaskara Technical Institute (Sethu Bhaskara I.T.C.) in 1997. Located in his native village of Kandramanickam, this institute was established with the vision of providing skill-based education to empower the youth and make them capable breadwinners.

At Sethu Bhaskara I.T.C., students receive hands-on training in various technical fields such as Fitter, Wireman, and Electrician. The curriculum is designed to meet industry standards, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped to secure jobs both locally and abroad. Since its inception, the institute has successfully trained over 300 students, many of whom have gone on to establish successful careers in their respective trades.
